This is a current view from our remote controlled camera atop the Southtrust Bank building in the heart of downtown St. Petersburg. Don't forget to hit refresh to get a new image (These images are updated about every 5 minutes)
The camera is controlled by a dedicated telephone circuit. The signal is fed to the station by a seven gigahertz microwave transmitter. This path is also used to feed news stories from our St. Petersburg newsroom. Occasionally you may see a frame of news video or a reporter preparing to "go live" from the bureau. The camera provides a bird's eye view of various landmarks including the St. Pete bayfront and Tropicana Field, home of the Tampa Bay Devil Rays baseball team. |
